Counselling for teachers.

Counselling in Hornchurch, Upminster, Romford, Elm Park, Gidea park.  hfcounselling.co.uk

Teaching is a very stressful and emotional vocation.  There are many hours of work and little time to reflect on your own mental health.

Past clients have spoken of huge workloads as a result of preparation, marking, behaviour management, performance management, in school politics, Ofsted etc. This constant cycle can seem like you are trapped in a machine where the thoughts and feelings of staff seem like an afterthought.

You feel underappreciated and overworked.  There are so many tasks to do that you feel that you're not doing any of them to the standard that you would like.  This heavy demand can drain your creativity and make you feel a shadow of your former self.  This can result in burnout, loss of passion and wondering if this is still the profession for you.

We can work together to find out what you really want/feel and rediscover the part of you that attracted you to teaching in the first place.  You may be   dealing with stress, loss of identity, guilt or school politics.  Issues outside work such as a bereavement, end of a relationship or the birth of a child may be overwhelming you and you need time and space to work things out.

I am a secondary school teacher of seventeen years and like you I know how hard it can be.  It is a hugely emotional job with many facets that can grind you down if you don’t take time to look after yourself.

All the best,
